Building on Commitment to Community with Habitat for Humanity Project in Greenfield

Greenfield Cooperative Bank senior staff recently rolled up their sleeves to support Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity’s latest project: a single-family home in Greenfield that will soon belong to a local resident and her son.

The bank contributed $10,000 toward the project and, last weekend, joined the build site to help install insulation and complete carpentry work in the rafters. Although the home is a single story, the crew worked from scaffolding and learned new skills under the guidance of site foreman David, who showed volunteers how to safely use power tools and saws.

“Days like this bring out the best in our team,” said Jackie Charron, EVP – Chief Banking Officer. “Not only do we get to learn new skills and work side-by-side with Habitat’s incredible volunteers, but we also get to see firsthand how our efforts are helping a local family achieve the dream of homeownership.”

In 2024, Greenfield Cooperative Bank supported Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity’s project in Northampton with both financial contributions and volunteer hours, where staff helped complete the interior painting. The Greenfield build has offered another opportunity for hands-on service and team building, and the GCB crew looks forward to returning in early spring to help paint the home’s interior as construction continues.

“Being part of this project reminds us what community is all about,” said Tony Worden, President & CEO. “We are proud to stand with Habitat for Humanity and play a role in helping this family put down roots in Greenfield.”
